Medium: Mixed Media
Gloria Gelo is a contemporary abstract artist, designer, and instructor working in mixed media. Captivated by the seasonal shift of nature and the organic, Gloria explores the interplay between shape and form. Her art is driven by a pursuit of balance, a recurring theme in her work. She creates uniquely understated and modern works of art. Her work has an elegant simplicity that pushes the boundaries of design and surprising composition. Her colour palette is sensitive and anchored in the natural splendour of her subject matter. The result is a contemporary aesthetic with a modern graphic edge. Gloria studied fine art in Ohio and works out of her studio in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
“I have always felt more alive out in nature. Whether it’s walking through the forest on a cool autumn day or sitting along the shore watching the waves roll in and out with their rhythmic motion. The expanse of the sky lets me breathe and fills my soul with calm and space reserved just for me. There’s a simple elegance in how a wave graces the shore or leaves curl as they dry. Even the gnarled branches have an unmistakable beauty, especially with the first frost. I see these elements in their purest natural form.”
