Herm Stolte, operating as “Herm’s Turn” in Calgary, is a dedicated woodturner who celebrates the natural beauty of wood through minimalistic, clear-finished designs. A founding member and past president of the Southern Alberta Woodworkers Society, Herm transitioned from an 18-year teaching career to pursue wood artistry full-time. He’s active with the International Wood Collectors Society and the Calgary Woodturners Guild. Passionate about both the aesthetics and the science of wood, he sources local trees destined for waste and meticulously identifies each species he works with—highlighting nature’s story in every piece.
