Douglas Pueschel

Fine Furniture & Wood Art
Medium: Wood

Douglas Pueschel grew up in rural Leduc County, learning woodworking in his family’s custom shop. After studying Conservation Biology and completing a cabinetmaking apprenticeship, he was inspired by studio furniture masters like George Nakashima and Michael Fortune to explore woodworking as art.

Known for his “organized chaos” approach, Douglas creates work that reflects technical skill, personal meaning, and a deep connection to nature. His Unbound series, titled using four-letter bird codes, blends his biology background with meticulous craftsmanship.

Douglas continues to work in the family business, and from his home studio in Strathcona County. His pieces are held in private and public collections across Alberta.
