Brian McEvoy is one of only a few full-time professional woodturners in Canada. What began as a hobby in the mid-1980s became a full-time pursuit in 1995, supported by the encouragement of his wife, family, and friends.
Over the decades, he has refined his craft through extensive practice and by learning alongside world-class turners at seminars and symposiums. Now an award-winning artist, Brian’s work is held in collections across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. While he continues to make functional pieces, his one-of-a-kind works are especially prized by collectors.
Renowned for his innovation, Brian blends traditional turning with carving, piercing, pyrography, airbrushing, and deep hollowing, often pairing modern synthetics with exotic and local woods. His work pushes creative boundaries while honouring craftsmanship and conservation.
Currently relocating to Mexico, Brian is scaling back production and is not accepting commissions at this time. Bay 1 Gallery will continue to represent his work with a selection of available pieces.
